If you are reading this website the chances are you probably want to lose some weight, whether it be a few stone or that last couple of pounds.
So why are you overweight?
Most trainers will tell you its because you are greedy, lazy, ill-disciplined or have bad genetics. I doubt you are any of these things.
In fact, if you are overweight you probably have very good genetics!
The one thing that people overlook is the fact that the central nervous system governs the whole body and controls everything. Yes, everything- including how fat you are.
Being overweight is nothing more than a survival system hardwired into your brain to provide fuel and insulation in difficult times- the part of your brain that controls weight has no idea that we now live in a society where shelter and hunger aren’t a problem anymore.
If you are overweight, the chances are your body perceives some sort of threat and is trying to keep you safe.
So be thankful for it and stop feeling bad about it!
The reason you can’t stop eating is because your body is trying to keep you fat.
The reason exercise doesn’t work is because your body is trying to keep you fat.
The reason your body is trying to keep you fat is because it believes you are in danger!
So how do I lose weight?
Put simply, you have to figure out a way to tell your central nervous system that you are perfectly safe and don’t need all this excess fat. It really is that straightforward. This takes a bit of investigation and intelligence on your part and mine as we try to work out what exactly is going on.
Once your brain is happy that there is no threat to your survival, you wont crave food all the time, you will have more energy to be active and you will let go of fat you don’t need! I’m sure you know people who can eat what they want and never seem to gain any weight whatsoever? For whatever reason, they are lucky enough that their brain does not think that the body is under threat. Our aim is to get your subconscious mind into that state of thinking!
Here’s the bad news:
-There is no single magic technique to help everyone- we are all different.
Here’s the good news:
-There are lots of techniques that will help- it’s just a case of finding the right ones for you.
And here’s the REALLY good news:
-You do not have to starve yourself or deprive yourself of any foods!
-You do not have to do horrible, boring cardio training!
In fact, these two things will probably do nothing more than make your situation even worse as they increase the threat signal to your brain. Just say NO to dieting and aerobics!!!
